Here's
my rap sheet! And
NO, I've never been arrested! That's another rumor!
Damn those pesky rumors!
Name: Jimi Hazel. Born: September 3,1963. Nickname: Sepia XL (that's Brown-Extra Large, just in case you didn't know what "Sepia" means)! Inspiration: Shirley (Mom), Dennis (Dad), Renell aka Ladybug (My Wife), Taylor (My Daughter), Wes Montgomery, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Hazel and William "Biddy" Fleet. Plus countless other wonderful musicians and people! Job Description: Resident Axe Strangler and Vocaliste Du Jour! And Producer of Great Music! (I had to put that in!). Hobbies: Who has time for hobbies? I got work to do! Likes: Good Food, Good People, Good Music, Good Cigars, Good Books and Good Movies! Dislikes: Stereotypes, Traitors, Punks, Lying Thieving Chumps, Fake People, Bad Music, Breast Implants (Keep 'Em Real, Ladies!) and Cigarette Smoke! Favorite Home Away From Home: The Netherlands, where our wonderful Webmaster resides! Musical Influences: My family started my love of music! My Dad has an amazing voice and would sing all the time, encouraging to sing along with him! My Mom had an eclectic taste in my youth, playing everything from Richie Havens to Paul Mauriat to Wes Montgomery! We'd also go record hunting in every thrift shop in New York! She still listens to everything under the sun! My Grandfather (R.I.P.) introduced me to Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, T-Bone Walker, Jimmy Reed and Charlie Parker! AMAZING! My Brother (R.I.P.), Sister and I would go to The Apollo Theater every weekend to see the cream of R & B artists, during the 60's and 70's! And that was something that started for me when I was five years old! And last but not least, my Brother (R.I.P.) took me to see Hendrix in 1970 at the New York Pop Festival at Randall's' Island-which was right across the bridge from where I grew up in the South Bronx! That's why the music I write comes out the way it does! Favorite Color: Purple Little Known Fact: I had Rheumatic Fever when I was 14, and it was very severe. I overheard the doctors talking amongst themselves, and one doctor said that I wouldn't live past my mid thirties. Guess What? I'M STILL HERE! The Moral of that is, God has the ultimate say about your life! What you do with it is up to you! I wanted to play guitar and make music for the world to hear! And I DID! So! I hope you learned something about me you didn't know! GOT A QUESTION? HOLLA AT ME! (keep in mind, it may take a moment to respond! But I will!).
